This accession consists of field books of Ray S. Bassler (1878-1961), a geologist and paleontologist in the United States National Museum. These notes mainly focus on his trips to Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. One field book contains notes made by John M. Nickles, who accompanied Bassler. Materials also include notes, maps, scientific illustrations, and photographs.
