Descriptive Entry

Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of the "Smithsonian X 3D" website as it existed on December 18, 2015. The website launches a set of use cases which apply various three-dimensional capture methods to iconic collection objects as well as scientific missions, indicating that this new technology has the potential not only to support the Smithsonian mission, but to transform museum core functions. The website includes information about the use of three-dimensional technology to document iconic collection objects and scientific missions as well as the use of three-dimensional models in the classroom and the 2013 Smithsonian X 3D conference. This accession does not include models or tours and, due to technical difficulties, some video may not function properly. Materials are in electronic format.
