Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of the records of Lonnie G. Bunch, Associate Director of the Office of Curatorial Affairs, which document his role as project manager for the planning, development, and production of the exhibition "Land of Promise: America in the 19th Century" and related programs at the National Museum of American History (NMAH). The exhibition explored the influence of race, class, gender, and ethnic origin on the aspirations, successes, and frustrations of a diverse American population with a focus on African Americans, Native Americans, Jewish immigrants, factory workers, and prominent families. Earlier records date from when Bunch was curator in the Division of Community Life, 1989-1991; Assistant Director for Curatorial Affairs, 1992-1994; and Associate Director of the Office of Historical Resources, 1995-1996, at NMAH.
Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; proposals; budget summaries; design and production schedule; loan information; floor plans; scripts; object lists; audience survey information; meeting agendas and minutes; clippings; photographs; and supporting documentation.
