This accession consists of field notes of Frederick M. Bayer (1921-2007), zoologist at the National Museum of Natural History, Department of Invertebrate Zoology, 1947-1961, 1975-1996. Bayer specialized in the study and classification of soft corals (Octocorallia). These materials consist of his catalogs and journals for his expeditions to the Bikini Atoll, the Ifaluk (Ifalik) Atoll, and the islands of Palau.
