This accession consists of the website and blog maintained by the Smithsonian Affiliations as they existed on February 2, 2017. Smithsonian Affiliations is a membership program for museums and other cultural institutions.

The website provides information about requirements and benefits of membership; descriptions of each of its affiliated organizations; and annual conference details. In addition, it includes digital copies of "The Affiliate" paper newsletter. Due to technical issues, some content may be missing.

"The Affiliate" blog highlights programs at affiliate organizations. The blog was opened in July 2006.
