This accession consists of three captures of the primary website of the Smithsonian Institution. It was crawled on October 11, 2016, and again on October 17, 2016, after an error was discovered with the earlier crawl. The website was crawled again on January 3, 2017, shortly before it was scheduled to be relaunched with a new design. The website contains general information for visitors, volunteers, researchers, donors, and the general public and serves as a portal for other Smithsonian Institution websites. In addition, the domain includes subsites maintained by many of the smaller Smithsonian Institution units. Materials are in electronic format.
