This accession consists of the records of Martin J. Collins, Curator, which primarily document planning for the Wernher von Braun Memorial Lecture, an annual public forum held at the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) that presents distinguished guest speakers and panel discussions in regard to space, science, and technology in contemporary life. Also consists of a small amount of records documenting NASM project proposals submitted to the Lemelson Center for review, and planning for the public program Remembering the Space Race which featured a panel of former network-news executives, astronauts, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) officials giving firsthand accounts of how NASA and the networks collaborated to present the space race to the American public and the world. Earlier records date back to when the Space History Division was known as the Department of Space History. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; budget summaries; lecture papers; proposals; biographical information; brochures; photographs and slides; pamphlets; and press releases.
