This accession consists of the National Museum of Natural History's "Ocean Portal" website and an associated Tumblr blog.
The "Ocean Portal" website, crawled on February 9, 2018, is a unique, interactive online experience that inspires awareness, understanding, and stewardship of the world's oceans. Content includes topical information, lesson plans, stories, and images. It also serves as a portal to ocean-related content from other organizations. In addition, a blog, launched in October 2009, is embedded in the website. Due to technical issues, many of the multimedia features in this accession do not function as expected.
The "Ocean Portal" Tumblr blog, crawled on February 22, 2018, features news and images related to the ocean and its sciences. It was launched in September 2012.
