Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records that document collections management, research, and professional activities of curators in the Division of Extractive Industries, with earlier records dating back to when the division was known as the Division of Manufacturing, the Division of Agriculture and Mining, the Division of Manufactures and Heavy Industries, and the Division of Industrial Cooperation at the National Museum of History and Technology, which, prior to 1969, was known as the Museum of History and Technology. Staff of the division represented in these records include John T. Schlebecker, Curator, and Chairman of the Department of the History of Technology; Philip W. Bishop, Curator, and Chairman of the Department of Arts and Manufactures; associate curators Charles O. Houston, G. Terry Sharrer, and John Nathan Hoffman; and Lowell L. Hankel, Industrial Specialist. A small amount of records also document the activities of Aida M. Doyle, Aid, Section of Organic Chemistry, 1925-1938, and Joseph W. Schutz, Assistant Curator, Section of Chemical Industries, 1942-1943, in the United States National Museum. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; proposals; policies and guidelines; meeting agendas and minutes; committee information; publications; clippings; drawings; brochures; photographs and slides; and reports.
