Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of Science Service subject files pertaining to photography. Some of the images were taken by Science Service staff, while others came from manufacturers and governmental agencies such as the United States Army Signal Corps and the United States War Department. The files also include images and other information used in the production of two exhibitions at the National Museum of American History: World War II Photographic Perspectives, which commemorated the opening of the World War II Memorial on the National Mall; and Science Projects: A Taxonomy of Images, which featured a selection of photographs from the Science Service collection used to promote and popularize science from the 1920s to the 1960s. Materials include correspondence, notes, photographs and negatives, newspaper clippings, news releases, articles, exhibition label scripts, photo lists, newsletters, illustrations, and drawings.
