Descriptive Entry

This accession consists of materials documenting the history of the Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) and its activities in support of the National Zoological Park (NZP) and the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI). As a nonprofit partner of NZP and SCBI, FONZ raises funds for mission support, manages a large volunteer force, and creates and conducts a wide variety of educational products and programs. Many of the materials in this accession document not just the history of FONZ, but the history of NZP and SCBI as well. Materials include images, clippings, brochures, maps, books, informational packages, educational activities, volunteer training materials, event invitations, meeting agendas, videotapes, development files for educational exhibits, patches, and related materials. Some materials are in electronic format.
