Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of three websites maintained by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES).
The SITES archives website, crawled July 31, 2018, includes content that no longer exists on their active website. The homepage replicates an older version of the website. When content still exists on the active website, links will take users to the active content. When content no longer exists on the active website, links will take users to the content within the archives website. This accession does not include the content on the active website.
The "Museum on Main Street" website, crawled August 6, 2018, helps bring the Smithsonian Institution to small towns across America. The website includes information about traveling exhibitions as well as educational resources and docent handbooks for each exhibition. The website also includes guides for creating oral histories and exhibitions. In addition, a blog is hosted on the website. Launched in May 2016, the blog features Smithsonian-related activities conducted in local communities.
The "Rebel, Jedi, Princess, Queen: Star Wars and the Power of Costume" website, crawled August 6, 2018, includes information about the traveling exhibition of the same name, including previews, family activities, and links to related resources.
Materials are in electronic format.
