This accession consists of records documenting the research and development of diets and other nutritional matters for animals at the National Zoological Park and its Conservation and Research Center. The bulk of these records were created and maintained by Olav Oftedal, nutritionist and research scientist in the Department of Zoological Research, 1978-2008. Some were created by staff prior to Oftedal's arrival or were received from other zoos. Materials include diets, memoranda, correspondence, product nutritional information, food preparation instructions, contract specifications, notes, a poster, and related materials. Some materials are in electronic format.
