Earlier records date back to when the Division of Work and Industry was known as the Division of the History of Technology, the Division of Extractive Industries, the Division of Manufacturing, the Division of Agriculture and Mining, the Division of Manufactures and Heavy Industries, and the Division of Mineral Technology. In addition are records documenting exhibition activities in the related sections of Organic Chemistry and Chemical Industries, plus some records from the Division of Transportation in regard to the Railroad Hall.
Staff represented in these records include curators John T. Schlebecker, Robert M. Vogel, and John H. White; Philip W. Bishop, Curator, and Chairman of the Department of Arts and Manufacturers; associate curator John Nathan Hoffman; assistant curator G. Terry Sharrer; industrial specialist Lowell L. Henkel; and aid Aida M. Doyle, Section of Organic Chemistry.
Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; proposals; budget summaries; press releases; scripts; object lists; brochures; floor plans; committee information; exhibition catalogs; opening invitations; speech papers; photographs and negatives; design layouts; production schedules; a contract; and drawings.
