This accession is a continuation of Accession 91-082 and consists of project files documenting the renovation or improvement of facilities for the Smithsonian museums. These records include blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, correspondence (primarily with contractors), payroll sheets, estimates, progress and inspection reports, photographs, and construction requests for extensions.
Buildings and museums documented in this collection include: Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution Building (Castle), National Museum of American Art, National Portrait Gallery, National Air and Space Museum, Renwick Gallery, Freer Gallery of Art, Silver Hill Facility, Museum Support Center, the National Mall, General Post Office Building, L'Enfant Plaza offices, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Quadrangle Building, Arts and Industries Building, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, and miscellaneous locations.
