Descriptive Entry

This accession consists of Secretary Robert McCormick Adams' administrative files for 1989. Materials include correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other communications received or issued by the Office of the Secretary, reflecting a wide range of official activities. The records contain correspondence relating to major Smithsonian Institution exhibitions; copies of the Secretary's speeches; information on his participation in conferences and on committees; files concerning the presentation of Smithsonian awards; and information on the activities and meetings of the Board of Regents. Files on the work of many offices and museums in the Smithsonian are also included, as well as information on the Smithsonian's relations with the National Gallery of Art, congressional offices, federal agencies, and private and international organizations.
