Descriptive Entry

Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records documenting the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project (BDFF - formerly the Minimum Critical Size of Ecosystems Project), headed by Project Director Richard O. Bierregaard. A joint venture in conjunction with the World Wildlife Fund, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazonia, the BDFF Project was transferred from the World Wildlife Fund to the National Museum of Natural History in 1989. These records were generated mostly by Bierregaard and his staff, and include correspondence, invoices, budgetary information, and annual and progress reports. Some of the records are in Spanish or Portuguese.
