These records include correspondence and memoranda mostly between the Executive Director of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC), Mary Ellen Lane, and various heads of CAORC's overseas Centers. Additional correspondence is from different universities in and outside the United States, from individual scholars, from member institutions and from foundations. The bulk of the correspondence is from member institutions, the Council's overseas Centers, scholars, inquiring about research fellowships and membership. The correspondence is interspersed with notes, drafts of grant and conference proposals.
Other records include committee and annual board minutes and reports, newspaper clippings and articles, research proposals - most of which document research and scholarly programs and activities of the CAORC. The records also consist of payroll lists; curriculum vitae; meeting proposals and expenses; research fellowship proposals and applications; conference and reception plans; CAORC membership information; information about various donors in the United States; committee meeting and special events announcements; lists of panel participants; copies of invitations to various events and functions; brochures; booklets; questionnaires; and photographs depicting some of the Council's overseas Center facilities and staff.
