This accession consists of records that document the activities of the National Museum of American Art (NMAA), Office of Educational Programs, which is responsible for developing NMAA educational outreach programs, special events, and learning material for the general public, school systems, and professional organizations. Earlier records date back to when the Office of Educational Programs was known as the Office of Museum Programs. Materials include the correspondence and records of Margaret Cogswell: Education Program Officer, 1981-1982; Chief, Office of Public Programs, 1983; Chief, Office of Special Programs, 1984; Head, Special Services Programs, 1985-1989; and Special Audience Coordinator, 1990-present. In addition there are records pertaining to NMAA exhibition programs; symposiums and lectures; walking tours; publications, such as the art and poetry book Celebrate America; fundraising, grants, and budget information; Black History Month events; and workshops.
