Lawrence O'Reilly was appointed Associate Director for Exhibits in 1984 and was placed in charge of the planning and production of exhibitions at the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH). The position of Associate Director for Exhibits was abolished in 1994. This accession consists of records documenting the planning for and production of exhibitions at NMNH and includes correspondence, memoranda, blueprints, drawings, plans, publications, reports, and photographs. Included is extensive documentation of the planning of the Human Origins Hall, the Native American Hall, and the Geology, Gems, and Minerals Hall; the exhibitions Crossroads of Continents and Seeds of Change; and the planning for temporary exhibitions in the Evans Gallery. Materials also include budget and other administrative records and files concerning O'Reilly's professional activities and official travel.
