Descriptive Entry

Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of Robert S. Hoffmann files as member/chairman of the United States National Committee for the International Union for Quaternary Research (USNC/INQUA), 1977 through 1982. INQUA is essentially an interdisciplinary organization, with a special interest in the Quaternary Period of Earth history. The main objective is to further enhance all aspects of the study of the Quaternary, which is basically concerned with the range of environmental changes which have occurred many times during this period. Such examples would be the "Ice Age", the Tertiary Period, and the emergence of man.
These files include minutes of meetings, American Quaternary Association newsletters and meetings, correspondence, INQUA symposia, reports, and journals. This accession also contains files of Richard Goldthwait, Chairman, Robert S. Hoffmann's predecessor from 1974 through 1977.
