Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
This accession contains files about the American Association of Museums (AAM), International Council of Museums (ICOM), National Academy of Public Affairs (NAPA), and Polar Research Board, all of which document Robert S. Hoffmann's roll of Assistant Secretary for Science.
The goal of the AAM is to strengthen and expand the educational role of museums in today's world, while ICOM is created to promote museology and other disciplines related to the management of museums and their activities. NAPA was solely organized to give independent advice and counsel on improving the operation of public organizations. Polar Research Board goal is to establish national policy, priorities, and goals for basic and applied scientific research with respect to the Arctic.
Within these files are also Secretary's staff meeting minutes, agendas, board meeting notes, and brochures. There are also numerous write-ups and memoranda about research, progress, and accomplishments.
