Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of the records of Joseph M. Young, former Museum Specialist for the Division of Historic Archeology, circa 1969-1973; Division of Naval History, 1973-1984; and the Division of Armed Forces History, 1984-1994. These records primarily consist of memoranda and correspondence documenting Youngs' work on the Flag Collection in the Division of Naval History, which later became part of the Division of Armed Forces History, and pertain to his work on underwater historic archeology holdings of the Division of Historic Archeology.
Materials also include files once maintained by the secretary for the Division of Naval History, Frances Hainer. These records consist of exhibition proposals, scripts, and labels for the Armed Forces Hall at the National Museum of History and Technology; correspondence of Harold D. Langley, Curator of Naval History; photographs of the Seaman's Model of the U.S.S. Peacock; and biographical information.
