This accession consists of the records of the Department of Exhibits, which was responsible for the design and production of exhibitions for the National Museum of American History, previously known as the National Museum of the History and Technology, beginning in 1973. Some files also date to the Department of Exhibit's predecessor, the Office of Exhibits Programs. Materials include memoranda and correspondence; exhibit blueprints, drawings, and proposals; budgetary information; and photographs of finished exhibitions. Some of the exhibits represented in this accession include After the Revolution: Everyday Life in America, 1780-1800; Field to Factory: Afro-American Migration, 1915-1940; and American Women in War.
