Descriptive Entry
Descriptive Entry
Between 1986 and 1989 the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (HMSG) considered building an addition. Many schemes were considered, all prepared by The Architects Collaborative (TAC) of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The most fully developed scheme is the 7th Street Addition. Other design schemes are: Wraparound Scheme A, Wraparound Scheme C, Bookends Scheme, Bar Scheme, Pavilion Scheme, and others. There are also records of meetings among TAC, the Hirshhorn, the National Capitol Parks and Planning Commission, and the Fine Arts Commission. Also included are Plaza designs by James Van Sweden, Landscape Architect; miscellaneous Plaza drawings; and an original HMSG drawing from 1971.
