This accession consists of the records of the Hirshhorn Foundation include information on art-related activities; correspondence with artists, collectors, galleries, patrons and art institutions on a variety of topics and issues; records regarding the Foundation's art lending program; inventories of the art collections stored in various leased facilities; records on the negotiations about giving the Joseph H. Hirshhorn Collection to London; and records documenting Mr. Hirshhorn's responsibilities as a trustee of the Archives of American Art, including correspondence with the artists Jacques Lipchitz, Raphael Soyer and Hugo Robus.
