These records consist of memoranda from the office in immediate charge of the United States National Museum, usually the Office of the Assistant Secretary, to staff of the Museum and other divisions of the Smithsonian. People represented in the records include Richard Rathbun, Frederick William True, G. Brown Goode, and Charles D. Walcott. Most memoranda originate from subordinates. A volume list follows.
