Descriptive Entry

This collection consists of reports prepared by the Curator of the Division of Birds and sent to the Head Curator of the Department of Zoology (prior to 1917, the Head Curator of the Department of Biology). The report for 1957-1958 includes some parts of the departmental report in additional to the divisional report, probably because at that time Herbert Friedmann (1900- ) served as both Curator of Birds and Head Curator of the Department of Zoology. Some quarterly reports are also included, particularly in the earlier years. These annual reports generally contain more information than can be found in the published Annual Report of the United States National Museum.
