Historical Note
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship was established in 1978 by Congress at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (WWICS) to honor the former Senator and Vice President of the United States, who was also the first Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Wilson Center. The Humphrey Fellow was to serve for one year, delivering a Hubert H. Humphrey Memorial Lecture and carrying out projects consistent with the Fellowship.
