These papers consist of texts of lectures, most of which were delivered at the Alexandria Lyceum. One was printed in the Alexandria Gazette in 1840. Also included are lists of translations Alexander did for the Smithsonian Institution, 1866-1870.

Historical Note
Charles Armistead Alexander (?- circa 1869) translated many foreign scientific papers for the Smithsonian Institution, beginning about 1858. Most of the translations were published in the Smithsonian Institution Annual Report. Alexander also lectured at the Alexandria Lyceum during the 1840s.
