These records consist of minutes of the Club's meetings, which were informal gatherings. The minutes contain synopses of scientific papers presented as well as discussions of research being carried on by the members.

The Potomac Valley Ornithological Club was founded in 1892 by several ornithologists residing in the Washington, D.C., area. The Club did not meet after 1896.
