This collection consists of bound letterpress books of outgoing correspondence, 1899-1909, and diaries kept by Chamberlain, 1900-1905. Most of the correspondence is official, with smaller amounts of personal material included. The letterpress books also contain correspondence, reports and notes on Chamberlain's work for the Fish Commission and Bureau of Fisheries, particularly his investigations of Alaskan salmon fisheries. The diaries document several official field trips including cruises to Alaska, 1901, 1903-1905; field work in Hawaii, 1902, and Arizona, 1904; and Chamberlain's participation on the third Agassiz Albatross Expedition to the eastern tropical Pacific, 1904-1905.
