This journal was kept by Fairchild on a collecting trip to Java, 1896-1897. It includes descriptions of specimens, some loose notes on termites, and a small number of photographs of unidentified plants.

Historical Note

Historical Note
David Grandison Fairchild (1876-1954) was a botanist concerned with the search for valuable seeds and plants for introduction into the United States. He was appointed Pathologist at the United States Department of Agriculture in 1892. He eventually became head of the Section of Seed and Plant Introduction.
