This collection consists of photographs of the Laboratory and the Dry Tortugas Islands. Included are photographs of laboratory facilities, research vessels, Fort Jefferson, Bird Key, and Loggerhouse Lighthouse. Several of the photographs show the effects of a 1919 hurricane on laboratory facilities.

Historical Note
John W. Mills (1876-1952) was chief engineer at the Marine Biological Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution of Washington at Tortugas, Florida, from 1904 to 1939.
