This collection documents Basil Elwood Montgomery's research on dragonflies and the building of his collection. Included is correspondence with entomologists and collectors, mostly concerning the acquisition of specimens; a catalog of his dragonfly collection; and notes from his research.

Historical Note
Basil Elwood Montgomery (1899-1983) was an entomologist and authority on dragonflies. He spent most of his professional career as a faculty member at Purdue University. Montgomery donated a large collection of dragonflies to the National Museum of Natural History.
