The Martin A. Gruber Photograph Collection consists of black and white photographs taken by Gruber between 1919 and 1924. Subjects include buildings, bridges, monuments, and trees and flowers of the Washington, D.C., area, as well as views of the National Zoological Park.

Historical Note
Martin A. Gruber (circa 1854- circa 1941), a native of Berks County, Pennsylvania, worked for the War Department in Washington, D.C., from 1891 until his retirement around 1929 at the age of 75. While in Washington, Gruber took many photographs of the local scenery.
