These papers consist of Snyder's unpublished manuscript on entomology, "Insects, Man's Greatest Rivals" and photographs of Snyder and his family, as well as termite nests.
Historical Note
Historical Note
Thomas Elliott Snyder (1885-1970), an entomologist and authority on the taxonomy, biology, and control of termites, received his Ph.D. from the George Washington University in 1920. He joined the staff of the Division of Forest Insects, Bureau of Entomology, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 1909. He remained with the USDA until his retirement in 1951. Snyder served as a Research Associate in the Department of Entomology, United States National Museum (USNM), from 1951 until his death. His collection of over 230,000 specimens was donated to the USNM.
