These papers consist of professional correspondence to and from Gloyd. Also included are requests for publications and extensive communications with Conant.

Historical Note
Howard K. Gloyd (1902-1978) received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ottawa University in 1924 and an honorary Ph.D. in 1942. He earned his M.S. degree at Kansas State College, Manhattan in 1929, and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1937. After the completion of his doctorate, Gloyd became the Director of the Chicago Academy of Sciences where he remained until 1958 when he joined the faculty of the University of Arizona. Gloyd published in both the fields of ornithology and herpetology but he is best known as a herpetologist. His life's work became a monograph covering the genus Agkistrodon world-wide, on which he worked with Roger Conant.
