Historical Note
Henry Ulke (1821-1910) was born in Prussia, but emigrated to the United States as a young man. A painter by profession, Ulke was also an amateur entomologist, and collected beetles avidly. Ulke amassed an impressive collection of insects, which he eventually donated to the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh. Ulke's son, Titus (1866-1961), shared his father's interest in entomology and often helped gather specimens for his father's collection.
