Photographs taken by Captain C.B. MacCloskey while serving as a public relations officer with Colonel A.B. McMullen at the Air Transport Command in Accra, Ghana. Images document Africans in the Akan chiefdom of Akim near Accra, Ghana, in 1943. Activities shown include dancing and drum playing, as well as the funeral of the king of Akim and funerary dances. Also included is an image of an effigy of the deceased king. People depicted include Africans in Western dress and uniforms and U.S. soldiers.
