Footage of the excavations at the Kolomoki Indian Mounds State Park in southwest Georgia. Digging undertaken in preparation for a proposed roadway to the Jim Woodruff Dam on the Apalachicola River. Film documents excavating at and around several of the mounds as well as on the floodplain near the river. Records techniques such as core sampling, topographic surveying, and excavation methods. Also includes detail of several human burials and recovered objects, including ceramics and bone utensils. Site is thought to have been occupied from Kolomoki through Weeden Island Period Cultures. The nine mounds on the site are also thought to have been constructed during this period.
