Scope and Contents
Scope and Contents
The audio tapes are "conservation dialogues" with elders from a number of Alaskan native cultures who consulted on Alaskan objects in the collections. The video tapes were created by Landis Smith, Michele Austin-Dennehey and Kim Cobb for the collaborative loan between the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Museum of Natural History to the Anchorage Museum, Rassmussen Center, Anchorage, Alaska.
Please note that the contents of the collection and the language and terminology used reflect the context and culture of the time of its creation. As an historical document, its contents may be at odds with contemporary views and terminology and considered offensive today. The information within this collection does not reflect the views of the Smithsonian Institution or Anthropology Archives, but is available in its original form to facilitate research.
