The Association for Feminist Anthropology (AFA) is a section of the American Anthropological Association (AAA). It was formed in 1988 to sponsor and coordinate panels presented at AAA meetings and support a variety of efforts within the AAA to promote equity, inclusiveness, and human rights. The following working commissions were established and form the central interests of the association: Women's Body Control (later renamed Women's Reproductive Rights and Bodily Autonomy); Women and Human Rights; and Gender and the Curriculum. Voices is the official journal of the association and is published annually.
