Includes notes, maps, sketches of artifacts, newspaper clippings, and letters. Much of the material is in Holmesʹ hand, but some is in the hand of others, including Gerard Fowke, who assisted Holmes in the field work (see Bureau of American Ethnology annual reports). Fowkes catalog of archeological material from Gala Water, Virginia, is included. Also a letter, William B. Marye to D. I. Bushnell Jr., 11/5/15, and reply re a shell heap in Hartford County, Maryland, with photographs.
