Scope and Contents
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of four (4) drawings made and/or collected by Anton Schönborn and four (4) engravings based on the drawings. Three drawings are by Schönborn. They depict two men wrestling; a group of people on shore watching a person paddle a kayak; and a family including a man wearing back armor and carrying a bow and arrow. The engravings associated with these drawings are all inscribed "Anton Schonborn del." The fourth drawing depicts a man and is labeled labeled: "E. Petitot. O.M.I. Chef-Esqimau de la tribu des Tchizareni." It is unclear if this is a drawing by Emile Petitot or a copy by Schönborn. Both this drawing and its associated engraving were found with the Schönborn drawings and engravings.
Please note that the contents of the collection and the language and terminology used reflect the context and culture of the time of its creation.
