Scope and Contents note
Scope and Contents note
Photographs collected by the Palestine Exploration Fund depicting sites and peoples in Syria, Israel, and Palestine that relate to Biblical events. Sites include the Great Mosque in Damascus, Nazareth, a Samaritan camp, remains of synagogues, Mount Gerizim, and Jerusalem. The photographs, which were either made or funded by members of the Palestine Exploration Fund, were collected by the United States National Museum for the Cotton States and International Exposition in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1895. Many of them still have the accompanying text from that exhibit, including identification information and Biblical citations.
