Biographical / Historical
Stephen Israel is an archaeologist who interned with the Smithsonian's River Basin Surveys at the Chappelle Creek Arikara Village site in South Dakota in 1964. The site was on an island in Big Bend reservoir.
Starting in 1976 Israel worked as an archaeologist for the Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, Maryland until his retirement in 2003.
