Photographs primarily of Sicangu Lakota (Rosebud) individuals and groups at dances and other events in Valentine, Nebraska. One event is possibly related to a presidential campaign for Franklin D. Roosevelt, or a Fourth of July celebration. Also included are two photographs of a sod church in Kennedy, Nebraska. Most of the photographs were made by Bertha Crum Sparks but Helen Sparks, daughter of Bertha Sparks, may have made several.

Bertha Crum (Mrs. Levi C.) Sparks lived in Valentine, Nebraska and took many photographs of visiting Sicangu Lakota people from the nearby Rosebud reservation. Some photographs were made in the Sparks' back yard.

The photographs were initially filed by tribe in Photo Lot 24. In 2010 the photos were removed from Photo Lot 24 and restored as a distinct collection.
