Custodial History
Papers originally in the National Archives. Following a review in the 1970s and a plan to destroy these documents, William Sanford, State Department historian who had used the material in his doctoral research, received permission to acquire the records. Donated to museum in 1988, and transferred from the Division of Engineering & Industry (now Division of Work and Industry) to the Archives Center, April 7, 1989.
