Scope and Contents
Materials consist of conversations recorded on 1/4" audio tapes with significant photographers and their experiences documenting historic events. Some of the material is associated with John Faber's book, "Great Moments in News Photography" (New York: T. Nelson, 1960). In addition, there is Faber's interview with photographer Joe Rosenthal about his famed Iwo Jima photograph. The materials are arranged by the catalog number.

Founded in 1946, the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) consists of still photographers, television videographers, editors, and journalism students. Based at the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication the association focuses on journalism that uses photographs or moving images as the basis of a story. NPPA promotes professional development for its members through a mentoring program, seminars, and workshops.
